The Practice

The practice is repetition

Pick the line that names the change you're actually training for. Wear it on the days that matter — the negotiation, the early session, the rep you'd rather skip. The point is not the first wearing. The point is the hundredth, when the sentence has stopped being on the shirt and started running on its own. Discipline isn't a mood. It's an input you choose, repeated until it holds.

How to use a cue

  1. **Read it before you wear it.** Say the line once, deliberately, out loud or under your breath. You are loading the cue, not getting dressed.
  1. **Wear it on a day that demands the line.** Match the cue to the work in front of you. Let the shirt mark the day's intention.
  1. **Use the mirror as the rep.** Each time you catch your reflection, read the line again. That glance is the practice. It costs nothing and compounds.
  1. **Notice the carry-over.** End the day by naming one moment the cue changed. That is the evidence. Collect it.
